What is Rainbow Storytime?

Rainbow Storytime is a program full of colorful stories, crafts, songs and movements celebrating diversity of every kind.

What happens at this program?

For the first 15min of the program we have a short Storytime. This includes a few of the following activities:

  • Singing the “hello song”
  • Reading a developmentally appropriate children’s book (often color themed)
  • Playing with a parachute
  • Dancing with scarves to a song.
  • Rhyming to a color themed finger play
  • Signing different colors in sign language

Next we take 15 minutes to work on a colorful craft. The program concludes with bubble time and music.

When does this program take place?

This program usually takes place on the first Friday of the month at 10:30 am.

Who can attend this program?

Anyone is welcome to attend this program! The content is geared to be most enjoyable and beneficial for children age birth to five and their families.

What is the goal of the program?

  • Providing a space for children in our community to practice early literacy and motor skills.
  • Meeting our community’s needs and interests.
  • Carving out a specific Storytime space where families can know they will be accepted and included.
  • Demonstrating empathy and kindness.
